Staff Profiles - Principal Attorneys
- Cheryl R. Frank, ESQ, CPA, JD, LL.MMs. Frank is a nationally known tax attorney and Certified Public Accountant. She has gained recognition throughout the United States as one of the preeminent authorities on civil and criminal federal tax controversies by consistently winning arguments before the US Tax Court and US Federal District Courts. Ms. Frank also has extensive experience in representing clients under civil audit, criminal investigation and collection cases for the last 28 years.

Since 1980, Ms. Frank has worked continuously with matters involving the Internal Revenue Service. Following law school, her career began in the Chief Counsel's Office of the IRS. Cheryl was reponsible for tax litigation and policy issues relating to tax shelters, corporations and partnerships.
Following her tenure with the IRS, Ms. Frank became a partner at a prominent law firm in Washington, DC. There she specialized in tax planning, mergers and acquisitions and defending taxpayers against the IRS. Her growing visibiility led to her selection as delegate to the People's Republic of China, where a group of expert US tax attorneys acted as advisors on creating a national tax court system for the emerging legal system in China.
- Barry H. Cantor, ESQ, CPA, JDAs a C.P.A. and an attorney, Mr. Cantor has more than 10 years of tax experience. An integral member of the team, Mr. Cantor coordinates complex tax and accounting issues with clients and their C.P.A.s to achieve the maximum tax benefits. His ability to serve as liaison in these cases insures continuing client compliance through accurate restructuring of accounting procedures and systems to avoid future tax problems.

Mr. Cantor received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickerson College, his Masters in Accounting from the University of Baltimore, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Mr. Cantor is a member of the State of Maryland Bar.
- Stuart H. Sorkin, ESQ, CPA, JD, LL.MMr. Sorkin's practice is primarily transactional in nature, ranging from taxation matters and asset protection / estate planning to mergers, sales and acquisitions of businesses. In addition to his extensive transactional background, Mr. Sorkin advises clients on structuring transactions, personal and corporate matters and serves as corporate counsel to several small and mid-size corporations.

Mr. Sorkin assists clients with all forms of dealings with the IRS, including advance rulings, preparation of estate tax filings, estate audit examinations and collection matters. Stuart also consults with clients on all forms of asset protection and estate planning, including drafting wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and family limited partnerships. He also specializes in structuring charitable gifting and corporate succession and perpetuation plans.
As an expert on federal taxation, Mr. Sorkin has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, USA Today and Money Magazine. He is the co-author of "Effects of New IRA Rules on Married Couples." On behalf of charitable causes, Mr. Sorkin donates substantial legal time to several non-profit organizations, including Second Genesis, Parents and Adolescents Recovering Successfully Together, the Greater Washington Boys & Girls Clubs, Junior Achievement and Youth Services Alliance. Mr. Sorkin also serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington Waldorf School.
